What do BPA, PFAS and a shoe company have in common? Is it possible to truly be profitable and sustainable at the same time? In 2015 the United Nations created a framework comprising 17 aspirational goals known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a view towards peace and prosperity by 2030. Using green chemistry or the UN Sustainable Development goals separately will not solve our larger societal problems. In this talk we demonstrate how we can utilize both in concert using a systems thinking approach to identify areas of progress and achieve truly sustainable solutions that work for everyone.
