w imieniu Dziekana Wydziału Chemii, prof. Macieja Kubickiego, serdecznie zapraszamy na wykład, który
2 lutego 2024 r. (piątek) o godz. 9:30 w sali Rady Wydziału 2.57 Coll. Chemicum
wygłosi prof. Delia Haynes ze Stellenbosch University (South Africa)
Załączamy streszczenie oraz informację o Wykładowcy.
Delia Haynes is a professor in the Department of Chemistry & Polymer Science at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. Her research is in the field crystal engineering, which uses well-understood intermolecular interactions to assemble molecules in a particular arrangement in the solid state, with a view to designing novel molecule-based functional materials. Haynes studies multi-component crystals, with an emphasis on unconventional crystallisation methods. Delia completed her undergraduate and Honours degrees at the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, and carried out both her MPhil and PhD research under the supervision of Jeremy Rawson at the University of Cambridge. On completion of her PhD in 2002, Delia remained at Cambridge as a postdoctoral researcher with the Pfizer Institute for Pharmaceutical Materials Science, under the supervision of Bill Jones and Sam Motherwell. In 2006, she returned to South Africa as a lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in her home town, Durban. In 2007 she moved to Stellenbosch University, where she was promoted to full professor in 2020. Delia was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley in 2010, and was the 2015 recipient of the Jan Boeyens medal. She was recently elected the first president of the African Crystallographic Association. She is also a member of the European Crystallographic Association Executive Committee, a member of the CrystEngComm and NJC Advisory Boards, and a fellow of the Royal Society of South Africa and the Royal Society of Chemistry.
