Title: Rosalind Franklin and DNA: myths and facts
Date: 15th November 2022 (Tuesday)
Time: 4:00 pm
Virtual seminar: MS Teams
Rosalind Franklin played an important role in the research that eventually led to the discovery of the structure of DNA by Watson and Crick. Virtually unknown to the public, she passed away in 1958. In 1968, Watson penned a memoir, in which he revealed for the first time the story behind the discovery, and portrayed Franklin in a sexist way. Since then, countless books, articles and studies were published in an effort to analyze what happened. Seminar will show how facts became grotesquely distorted into myths as the story was picked up by writers who do not understand science.
